I work for a very large company that is trying to find it's identity - LEXIS Publishing. We are NOT there yet.
When we launched our new name the head of marketing at our company listed Harley Davidson as the "model of excellence" that we and everybody else would like to attain.
They took a position and never wavered from it and got the public to believe in both the vision and what it represented. When the marketing person asked what the logo meant everybody in the room said one of three things: (1) Freedom, (2) America, and (3) Fun.
And that's exactly what harley started out with as thier message a long time ago. truly an amazing marketing machine.
